about

Another song that was precipitated by a delightful catch-up and an inspiring discussion with Sorcha. This track is notable for how quickly it came together, with Sorcha writing lyrics, vocal lines and guitar parts in the space of two to three hours. The song is about love, loneliness and the importance of companionship (in one way or another), in this life. Musically, the song was inspired by our shared love of the likes of Big Thief and Phoebe Bridgers, but also by Bon Iver’s Wolves and Beach House’s Teen Dream record.

I might be lucky, I don’t wanna be lucky alone.

lyrics

Always looking down the wishing well
It was never such an easy sell
If only you could see yourself

Started sleeping by the telephone
You could call me just to say hello
I know we got a way to go
The line is always open for you

Is my love so safe, behind your collar bone
I might be lucky, I don’t wanna be lucky alone
Is my love so safe, behind your collar bone
I might be lucky, I don’t wanna be lucky alone

Everybody at the cherry house
Happy Halloween Baby
Give you something new to sing about
Paint your black tiles navy

Find a big big city
You won’t need nobody
Tell yourself that story
Tell yourself you’re sorry

Is my love so safe, behind your collar bone
I might be lucky, I don’t wanna be lucky alone
Is my love so safe, behind your collar bone
I might be lucky, I don’t wanna be lucky alone

Started sleeping by the telephone
You could call me just to say hello
I know we got a way to go
The line is always open for you

Is my love so safe, behind your collar bone
I might be lucky, I don’t wanna be lucky alone
